Course Description
College Prep is a program of math courses designed to prepare adults for
trades and technical programs at colleges and technical schools. The course
follows the outline of the North Island College MATH REVIEW booklet.
Students are assessed at Continuing Education and assigned a starting
place within the College Prep course. The starting place depends entirely
on the student's current mathematical ability and the end point depends
on what technology or trade the student wishes to enter.
Course Pre-requisites
Assessment tests taken at community colleges or at Continuing Education
in Campbell River
Course Breakdown
The course is divided into three parts: Fundamental; Intermediate; and
Advanced.
Assignments
Students will write regular tests and must attain a mark of 80% on each
of these tests.
Textbooks and Course Materials
The Fundamental part of the course follows the Pathfinder system. The
Intermediate and Advanced part of the course are print based making use
of text books available at Continuing Education.
